Often referred to as the “World Center of Racing”, the Daytona International Speedway is the most famous attraction in Daytona Beach, Florida. It’s the home of NASCAR’s prestigious Daytona 500 and hosts countless races, car shows, and concerts throughout the year. Whether you want to attend an event or simply tour the property, a trip to the Daytona International Speedway is a must when you visit The Sunshine State. Here are some of the things you’ll find there.
What You’ll See at the Daytona International Speedway
From the statue of Dale Earnhardt to the Fanatics Pit Gift Shop, there are plenty points of interest to discover across the Daytona property. You can look inside a real 3,300-lb race car, walk the Daytona 500 Championship Walk of Fame, or take a selfie in front of the iconic 355-foot Daytona International Speedway sign. There’s even a brand new museum: the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. Here, you’ll find all forms of motorsports including stock cars, motorcycles, powerboats, and more.
When it’s time for lunch, stop in for a quick bite to eat at the 4th Turn Grill. Selections including sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, and plenty of snacks.
One of the best ways to experience the Daytona International Speedway is by taking a guided tour. Sign up for the half hour Speedway Tour where you’ll take an aerial tram around the track, or try a 90-minute All Access Tour and explore the 2.5-mile Speedway from a variety of vantage points. If you’re looking for a smaller, more intimate experience, take the VIP Tour. You’ll get an up-close view of the most famous track in racing as you walk the same grounds that have produced motorsports legends for over 50 years.
While there’s almost always something going on at the Speedway, February in Florida marks the return of racing season. A nine-day motorsports campaign called Speedweeks provides race fans with an action-packed schedule, featuring seven races from four different series. Upcoming races include the Cam-Am Duel, PowerShares QQQ 300, Lucas Oil 200 and The Unlimited, and, of course, the Daytona 500. Visit the speedway website to view a full calendar of events and seating chart.
