Allamuchy Mountain State Park is located in Byram Township, which is in Sussex County, New Jersey along the Musconetcong River. The 9,092-acre park encompasses much of Allamuchy Mountain and is home to the 2,400-acre Allamuchy Natural Area. The park has many miles of hiking trails, both marked and unmarked as well as an open air museum called Waterloo Village. The village was once a Lenape Native American village and then transitioned to a port along the Morris Canal with colonization. is home to a 19th-century village with a sawmill, a gristmill, a general store, and a blacksmith shop.
Allamuchy State Park is part of the Northeastern coastal forests ecoregion, which is hallmarked a temperate climate and mixed forests. The forests of Allamuchy Mountain State Park are made up of both hardwoods as well as oak trees.

There is also a three mile long water trail for kayaking and canoeing within the park.
