Select Registry inns join Annual Craft Beer Month celebration in Virginia

Virginia is celebrating its second annual craft beer month all August long, and many of the Select Registry inns in Virginia are eager to help visitors enjoy the best of craft beer and breweries.  Though most don’t think of Virginia first when thinking of beer, the state is home to more than 60 craft breweries, restaurants and bars all with local brews on tap.

With Select Registry inns near most of those 60 craft brewery establishments, staying at a Select Registry inn is an obvious choice for accommodations while exploring what’s on tap.

Waynesboro & Afton

These two wonderful towns are less than 6 miles apart. Waynesboro is home to The Iris Inn, and Afton is home to the Blue Mountain Brewery and Restaurant.

The Iris Inn is one of the gems of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The inn was named “Most Welcoming Bed and Breakfast in the Shenandoah Valley” by Virginia Living in 2013, “Best of Virginia” by Virginia Living in 2012, “Readers Choice” by Virginia Wine Lovers in 2012, and a Certificate of Excellence winner by Trip Advisor in 2010, 2011, and 2012. In addition, guests are treated to seasonal, culinary delights every morning at the inn’s breakfast tables.

For the later meals of the day, enjoy the offerings of the Blue Mountain Brewery and Restaurant. This brewery, hop farm, tasting room, and restaurant is a destination in itself.  Visitors can purchase beer by the glass or purchase a six-pack, growler or keg to go.

Charlottesville

Charlottesville may be small in size and population but it is big on luxury accommodations and craft brewery options. The Silver Thatch Inn, Prospect Hill Plantation, and Foxfield Inn, as well as Champion Brewing Company and South Street Brewery, call this small town home.

The Silver Thatch Inn is a beautiful 7 guestroom Colonial farm house that began its life in 1780 as a barracks for Hessian soldiers captured during the Revolutionary War. Since then it has been revived as a boys’ school, tobacco plantation, melon farm, and now a delightful luxury inn. The history is masterfully blended with modern conveniences to create an unforgettable inn.

Prospect Hill Plantation is comprised of the 1732 manor and nine original dependencies dating between 1699 and 1850. The inn’s 11 guest rooms and cottages all have fireplaces, creaky floors, expansive views, and private decks but vary between rustic and elegant to provide something perfect for everyone.

Foxfield Inn is a modern inn that promises to rejuvenate you by enveloping you in calmness from the moment you step foot on the grounds. The five guest rooms each have a unique theme. Four rooms are deluxe rooms with remote controlled gas fireplaces, double Jacuzzi tubs and walk-in showers. The entire inn is surrounded by park-like grounds that beckon you to take a relaxing stroll and breathe in the fresh air.

Champion Brewing Company is Charlottesville’s newest brewery and beer-drinking establishment. Located at the foot of the Belmont Bridge, the company offers 5 beers to enjoy.

South Street Brewery is housed in the renovated and restored late 1800s H. H. Hankins Hay and Grain warehouse. Old brick walls, hardwood floors and timber pillars create the perfect atmosphere to enjoy the brewery’s handcrafted ales and lagers, as well as eclectic variety of meals.

Christiansburg & Fairlawn
