Select Registry Inns’ Chefs Featured in Cookbook

 

Several Chefs from Select Registry properties have been featured in the cookbook, Chefs of the Mountains: Recipes from Western North Carolina. The cookbook, which was published in late 2012, was recently nominated for Best Cookbook by the  Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance.

Author John E. Batchelor sought out chefs who are creating culinary masterpieces in the mountains of Western North Carolina for his book. He interviewed each of the 40 chefs featured to explore their cooking philosophies, culinary influences and personalities. Interesting and entertaining information from these interviews are included in the book, followed by recipes these renowned chefs are growing famous for.

Marianne Blazar is both chef and co-owner of The Orchard Inn in Saluda. She expertly blends fresh local ingredients with European-inspirations to create delicious and healthful menus at the inn. Michael Foreman utilizes his training from Le Cordon Bleu and local, sustainable ingredients to create culinary masterpieces at the Restaurant G at The Gideon Ridge Inn in Blowing Rock. His ingredients include farm fresh produce and day-boat caught seafood from the Carolina Coast. For an even more enjoyable dining experience, visit the inn in the summer months when you can enjoy dinner on the inn’s stone terrace.

Danielle Deschamps Stabler offers “slow food in a fast world” at the Mast Farm Inn every day of the week. It should come as no surprise that the Valle Crucis inn and Danielle were chosen for inclusion in the cookbook; they have been in the top 10 for the “Best Dish in North Carolina Award” in both 2010 and 2011. Danielle prepares every menu being mindful of the mountain region’s heritage and with the highest quality natural ingredients.
