The Empress of Little Rock has been rated as one of the top ten bed & breakfasts in the United States. It’s also ranked #4 on the “most romantic” hotels list. If you’re not familiar with The Empress of Little Rock, it’s a historic hotel that was built in 1888 and restored in 1995. The rooms and property are large and offer classic architecture and grounds.
The rooms at The Empress of Little Rock are the biggest reason for its romantic reputation. Every room comes with a fireplace, Jacuzzi, hydrotherapy massage jet shower, aromatherapy steam sauna, cable TV, CD player and luxury robes. Add comfortable featherbeds and it’s one of the most relaxing hotel room environments you will find anywhere in the country, if not the world.
The nearby spa is another popular reason for staying at The Empress of Little Rock. The spa offers hydro-massage therapy, aromatherapy, a steam room and Jacuzzi spa tubs. If this sounds appealing to you, consider the Pamper Me Massage package. If that’s not enough relaxation for you, try to figure out the 1,000-piece puzzle by the large fireplace in the parlor. When you desire a little fresh air, take a walk to the Moonlight Secret Garden, where you will find a fountain, a 4-person swing and a hammock. If you appreciate classic style more than anything else, you can marvel at the double stairwell and eat a meal in the formal dining room. If you’re more of a laidback individual, consider eating in the verandah.
The Teas & Tours at The Empress of Little Rock should be taken advantage of by all guests. Grand High Tea requires reservations and is offered every Sunday at 3 p.m. It’s $40 per person and has a maximum of 30 people. Desserts, gourmet finger sandwiches, clotted cream and fresh fruit are all handmade in the kitchen. Group High Tea is offered on the weekdays and is also $40 per person. For discounted rates as low as $20 per person, consider the Group Tea & Tour. You need 6 people in your group in order to lock in this per-person rate. This tour comes with Irish Raisin Scones, clotted cream, lemon curd and hot tea. Historical Tours are only $7.50 per person, unless you visit in December, when the prices are $10 per person. Once you complete one of the Teas & Tours or the Historic Tour, visit the gift shop. You will find everything from Christmas decorations to jewelry to bath products.
The Empress of Little Rock allows children, but only if they’re older than 6. Pets are also allowed, but only on a limited basis. The size and type of pet are the determining factors. If you’re a smoker, you can smoke outside on hotel grounds, but not in the hotel. Parking and WiFi are free.
